The Ultimate Horror-Themed Self-Care Night

Sometimes being out and about in the world can be a bit much. In times like those we all know the answer: self-care, babyyyy. But what does self-care look like when you aren't deep into yoga classes, sound bowls, or dream journaling?

For me, self-care can a whole host of things depending on the mood, but after a long day of being in office-mode, and socialising with people outside of my household, I just want to chill, indulge in my favourite things, and not have to move. If that's your vibe too then you might just be in the right place.

This guide will help you build the ultimate horror-themed self-care ritual using our eerily indulgent home fragrance and bath and body products. Light the candles, lock the doors, and prepare to pamper yourself... if you dare.

Step 1: Draw a (Blood)Bath

Every good self-care sesh surely has to start with par-boiling yourself in a steaming bath. Fill the tub and add a capful of our Camping at Crystal Lake Bubble Bath
Let the soothing notes of lavender and patchouli transport you to a relaxing vacation at Crystal Lake; the perfect way to start your zen evening (unless you're a camp counsellor...skip this step if that's you, or maybe just switch to another bubble bath!)

Step 2: Exfoliate the Horrors of Adult Life Away

Scrub, scrub in the tub; finish off your boiling bath with a good full-body exfoliation, using our Hellfire Club Sugar Scrub. It'll be like the outside world never touched you at all, plus you'll smell like a toasted marshmallow when you're done. Winner.

Step 3: Rub the Lotion on the Skin

Final step of skincare: time to moisturise. Grab a pot of our Never Sleep Again Body Butter, and apply to the skin. A little goes a long way with these, so you'll soon be lotioned-up head to toe (no need for the hose).

Step 4: Snack Time

You're pampered af, your skin is smooth and soft, and you smell bloody delicious. Must be time for snacks!

Everyone has their own snack of choice, naturally, but for me, this feels like time for a snack bowl. I like the sweet and salty combo so I'm throwing in the following:

  • Sweet popcorn
  • Salted popcorn (yes, that's a bag of each, not a mixed bag, because I believe in large bowls of snacks)
  • Chocolate buttons (Cadbury's. No debate)
  • Salted pretzels
  • Malteasers
  • Jelly tots

Step 5: Set Up the Space

Get the living room ready for a night of sitting on the sofa and...well, that's it actually. Sitting and relaxing!

We need a cosy, kind of spooky atmosphere for our self-care session, so draw the curtains and ditch the big light. Get some candles going, and light your wax burner ready for a horror-themed wax melt.

Depending on your vibe, give one of these a go:

Grab a blanket (and a fluffy pet if you've got one around!), and get comfy on the sofa.

Step 6: Pick Your Horror Movie of Choice

Comfort horror time! No matter your jam, we all know there is a horror for everyone. Whether it's a classic slasher like Scream (1996) or Friday the 13th (1980), a creature-feature like Underwater (2020) or The Descent (2005), or a ghostly tale like Poltergeist (1982) or The Conjuring (2013), find your favourite, get it on the big screen, and snuggle down in that blanket with your giant bowl of snacks and relaaaaaaaaaaax.

Horror self-care? Completed it, mate.

Enjoy!
